Dec.2010 - Grand solitaire

The snooker and pool balls were rescued from a scrapyard.. the oak is European.. there was a crack that had to be strenghtened.  With leather pads and soft neutral wax finish, Grand Solitaire rocks and knocks and rolls!
It is discreetly dedicated to Albert Camus, but what really matters is WHO can do it all starting from the center??

Alice & Supernova (to Marta)

Marta is a friend who works as a seamstress and costumes maker. Alice is well-known character from litterature. Supernova is a sewing machine model.
We had a story together, without knowing about it... This is vague, but here's the factual data about the piece:
On its 4 wheels, it's light and mobile like a theatre costumes trolley. All wrapped in Kraft paper, all trimmed with a ribbon of Iroko. It's showing the abstract lines of a girl's dress paper pattern on the linen curtain and on its sides, and the old instructions sheet (from a 1969 magazine) covers the top. A palette of coloured threads lines along, ready to mend loose buttons..

Dec. 2010 - Left behind

Carbone

Graphein

Pencils

They live in our pockets, they draw the lines; they're left behind; picked off the ground; drummed around...

Even became a Right.

They make their graphite Hard, or Black, or Fine.. You choose them from 0 to 9 since M.Faber's 1794 grading act.. We sharpen them in a rush, using a clever little device.. She plays at planting the pointy tip into her hand's soft skin and feels fakirish..At the end of the day there's a straight mark by his ear. Pencils end up embodying different aspects of industrial realities, personal stories and political situations.

façon fakir;
taillés à la va-vite,
ordonnés selon leur dureté de graphite;
tant de petites mains troqueraient bien la pioche contre ces mines-là.
Nos crayons de papier incarnent bien des histoires, industrielles, personnelles, politiques.
